Chicago – A Vietnam-era military
flare was intercepted in the mail by Customs agents as traveled to
Japan. The M49A1 flare was, according to the agency, marked as a
“military training dummie.”
Agents who got in touch with the sender
for more information were told it was obtained from an estate sale
online and was sending it to someone in Japan who bought it.
The city's bomb squad defused it after
they found out it still had its incendiary device active.
