Polish Parliament Member Plans to Smoke a Joint

Warsaw - Janusz Palikot, of Poland's new party named after him, is planning to smoke a joint in Parliament.

The activist and former businessman's plan is part of his campaign to get the country to lighten up on soft drug use.  However he has already ran into opposition to his scheme.

Palikot also plans to introduce a law that will decriminalize having small amounts of pot.

Parliament speaker Ewa Kopacz said she will not let him break the law and reported him to prosecutors.

Odd Stories: Art Student Hangs Painting in Major Museum Himself

Warsaw – Instead of waiting decades for his paintings to appear in museums, Andrzej Sobiepan decided to take the initiative upon himself to hang one in a major Polish art gallery.

After he got nationwide attention for his stunt, he told reporters he hoped young artists would get more space from galleries.

Inspired by Banksy, the world-renown graffiti artist, Sobiepan said he “decided that I will not wait 30 or 40 years for my works to appear at a place like this. I want to benefit from them in the here and now."

Museum officials apparently weren't aware of the painting after he hung it up on December 10^th for three days, not only giving him the recognition he desired but also revealing several security flaws.

Museum director Mariusz Hermansdorfer stated the action revealed some security breaches, but he also considered it a "witty artistic happening” and “Has shown that the young generation of artists, unlike their predecessors, wants to see their works in museums.”

The museum has kept the painting on display in its cafe and ready to sell at a major Poland charity auction on Sunday.

Major Step Forward in Poland

Warsaw, Poland – A transsexual and openly gay man are welcomed with open arms into the Polish parliament.

Anna Grodzka is a member of Palikot's Movement. It's a new progressive party which became the third-largest in parliament. She was born a man but had a sexchange. Sitting next to her was Robert Biedron, the first openly gay person elected to Poland's parliament. He's also a member of Palikot's Movement.

Later Grodzka said “It is a symbolic moment, but we owe this symbolism not to me but to the people of Poland because they made their choice. They wanted a modern Poland, a Poland open to variety, a Poland where all people would feel good regardless of their differences. I cannot fail them in their expectations."

Poland's Prime Minister, Donald Tusk, were among the people who shook Anna Grodzka's hand.
