Anchorage – United States Army
officials are keeping quiet about the details surrounding the arrest
of Spc. William Colton Millay, a 22-year-old solder facing espionage
charges. They did say on Wednesday there's no connection between
this and a case involving an Army analyst facing accusations of
disclosing classified information to Wikileaks.
Millay was arrested Friday in a Joint
Base Elmendor-Richardson barracks and is being held without bail.
The arrest is part of an ongoing investigation conducted by the FBI
and Army.
Army Lt. Col. Bill Coppernoll says
Millay's allegations did “not involve the transfer of data on
computer networks...Millay was being observed well before any damage
could have occurred.”
FBI spokesman Eric Gonzalez also
refused to give any details.
The punishment for espionage charges is
death.
