Odd Stories: From Winner to Prison in Under 12 Hours

Altoona, Pennsylvania - A man went from winning $2,500 in a casino to ending up in jail without ever leaving the building.

Mateen Johnson won the money from playing blackjack but things turned for the worst when he tried to cash out.

Detective Sargent Troy Johannides police were notified "When they swiped his ID [and] it came back that he had a warrant." Johnson was wanted by the Blair County Drug Task Force and the Attorney General's Bureau of Narcotics Investigation for his part in a cocaine ring which operated out of a bar.

Johnson said he was at the casino to raise money which he could use to make his bail after turning himself in to the authorities.  It isn't enough however; a judge set his bail at $200,000.

Odd Stories: Drugs, Two Bibles, and a Gun

Lancaster, South Carolina – A 28-year-old woman was arrested after she was discovered smuggling a cell phone, weapons, and drugs to a prison inmate using two hollowed-out Bibles.

Shareca Latoya Jones became the focus of the police department after the returned package was shown to have razors, a cell phone, ecstasy, and almost 30 grams of cocaine according to sheriff Barry Faile.

When they arrested her at a traffic stop, the police found a loaded handgun, almost 30 small bags of weed,, cell phones, and money in her car. She is currently facing charges such as trafficking cocaine, providing contraband to an inmate, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute a schedule IV substance, unlawful carrying of a handgun, and two counts of possession with intent to distribute a schedule I substance.

Odd Stories: Careful About Texting When It Comes to Drugs

Broken Bow, Nebraska – A mistakenly sent text message resulted in a man's drug arrest.

One of Nebraska State Patrol's officers started getting text messages from someone trying to buy drugs. Instead of telling him he has the wrong number or warning him that he's a cop, the trooper corresponded with the man until they set up a meeting place.

When he arrived at the agree-upon place he arrested Aaron Sartin and charged him with driving under the influence of drugs, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Other charges may be added.

Fake Drugs Confiscated By Chinese Police

Beijing – Chinese police arrested 114 people after a four-month investigation into fake drugs. A statement released by the Ministry of Public Security says more than 65-million pills were confiscated from a network that was spread around eight of the country's provinces.

Some of the drugs were made using corn powder or starch while others were simply repackaged past their use-by dates. Police also found animal feed, chemical pigments, and other harmful ingredients.

The investigation started after police noticed a woman in a pharmacy substituted real medicine with fake.
