Police Arrest 30 in Occupy Portland

Portland - Early Sunday morning Portland police arrested approximately 30 Occupy Portland protesters after they refused to leave Jamison Square, a park in Pearl District.

Although the downtown camps at Lownsdale and Chapman Square will be permitted, Portland police chief Mike Reese and Mayor Sam Adams stated the city's no-camping ordinance will continued to be enforced.

The occupation of Jamison Square took place after around 100 people protested a Bank of America event at the convention center.

People who decided to stay and be arrested instead of leave face charges of interfering with a police officer, criminal trespassing, and disorderly conduct.  Although most were released Sunday morning, six who refused to give their names weren't released until later in the afternoon.

What may not be reported however, and I hope I'm wrong on this, is the fact the Portland Police Department released not only the names of those arrested but their ages as well.  Why they chose to do this is anyone's guess but mine is to send a chilling effect to anyone who is considering joining or willing to risk arrest in support of the Occupy Movement.
