Washington - Although the CIA is forbidden by law to
do domestic spying, it's doing so in the form of monitoring social
media sites, including of course Facebook and Twitter.
Information which is gathered by the
agency is then compared with intelligence gathered by others to make better
details of likely terrorist suspects. Intelligence mining has become
such a part of the government system it's even included every day in
President Obama's daily security briefings.
The agency monitors approximately
five-million messages a day just on Twitter.
